UK - 2013
As proof of concept that any number of numpties can work, David was joined by his old friend and colleague Jimmy and Jimmy's father-in-law, John (a.k.a. the metronome) on this short but wonderful adventure. The "C2C" is one of the most popular routes in the UK and despite the great signage we did manage to go astray once or twice!
A traditional dip of the wheels at St Bee's started a journey through the stunning Lake District and over the Pennines through woodland, pine forests and moorland. The iconic Hartside descent didn't disappoint, although, if you watch the video carefully you will see not every descendant was so fortunate. Having left the Irish Sea behind us we took three days to reach Tyneside where we splashed the front wheels in the brine of the North Sea, in what could be considered the first iteration of the Columban Cycling Club.
