Day 5 - 8th July 2022

Mataranka

to Larrimah

David's Journal Entry

What an amazing start to the day, whatever weariness may have been in our legs was more than ameliorated by a swim in the glorious Mataranka hot springs. Fresh, warm and ready to ride we set off for Larrimah, made somewhat (in)famous by the suspicious disappearance of long-time resident Paddy Moriarty. Strong headwinds repelled us all day, but the thought of a cold beer at the "Pink Panther" spurred us on. The one-horse town description of Larrimar on the ABC Conversations podcast could not have been more apt. This once proud town now boasts a population of 12. Our first night under a solid roof with a pre-made bed proved very quiet, and the twin room, although basic was more than adequate. The quietness was fleeting though, as Mike snores.
